BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — The Louisiana Sports Writers Association as announced three choices for this week's state basketball players of the week. There was a tie for the men's winner with Brandon Fortenberry of Southeastern Louisiana and Ricky Tarrant of Tulane sharing the honor, while Kelia Shelton of Louisiana Tech took the women's top vote. Fortenberry tied career highs in scoring and 3 pointers made in Southeastern's 73-62 victory at Nicholls State. Tarrant helped Tulane to two straight conference victories during the week, scoring 19 points and dishing out a career-high nine assists in a 91-75 win over Marshall, and pouring in 27 points and collecting six assists in the Green Wave's comeback win at Houston. Shelton averaged 33.5 points, 9.5 rebounds, 1.5 steals and 1.0 assists while leading Louisiana Tech to a 1-1 mark on the week.
