ATLANTA (AP) — Jerrold Brooks scored 23 points, including the go-ahead 3-pointer, to lift Southern Mississippi to a 69-67 win over Georgia State on Tuesday night. The Golden Eagles (8-3), who have won two in a row after three straight losses, trailed by 11 with 12:25 to go. Southern Miss chipped away, finally pulling ahead 65-63 with 2:21 remaining. After the Panthers (5-6) tied it at 65, Brooks hit his 3-pointer with 2:03 to go. Georgia State missed three field goal attempts before a tip shot by Markus Crider made it 68-67 with 6 seconds left. One second later, Brooks went to the line and made the second of two free throws. After a Panthers timeout, Crider missed a 3-point attempt from the top of the circle with 2 seconds remaining. R.J. Hunter scored 24 points to lead Georgia State, which made 10 of 24 3-pointers but only 15 of 22 free throws.
