Butler Blue III is licking up the attention in Milwaukee.

As usual, the school's mascot is a hit with fans. NCAA rules don't allow for live animal mascots to attend early-round games, though university spokesman Michael Kaltenmark says Butler Blue III still attends games within a reasonable distance from the Butler campus in Indianapolis. It's about a 4 1/2-hour drive from there to Milwaukee.

The Bulldogs basketball team was playing Middle Tennessee on Saturday night for the right to advance to the Sweet 16 next weekend. Butler beat Winthrop on Thursday in the first round.

While the team practiced, Butler Blue III toured Milwaukee, including trips to a custard stand. The celebrity canine also visited with future Butler students and attended alumni events.

Once the game starts, it's back to the hotel for the famous bulldog.
