POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. (AP) — Chavaughn Lewis scored 17 points, Devin Price had 14 to surpass 1,000 points for his career and Marist held Manhattan scoreless in the final 3 minutes to win 62-58 Friday night in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference opener for both teams. The Red Foxes (3-5), who snapped a two-game skid, led by 13 with 8:08 remaining. The Jaspers (2-5) then used a 16-2 run, capped by two Michael Alvarado free throws, to take their first lead at 56-55 with 3:02 left. Alvarado's layup 2 seconds later, however, wound up as Manhattan's final points. Jay Bowie's 3-pointer with 1:40 left tied it, then Lewis and Isaiah Morton each hit 1 of 2 free throws to give Marist a 60-58 lead with 6 seconds left. Manhattan turned the ball over with 1 second left and Price was fouled, making two free throws for the final margin. Alvarado's 19 points led the Jaspers.
