SEATTLE (AP) — Cervante Burrell scored 19 points, Aaron Broussard scored 17 and Sterling Carter had 16 points to help Seattle beat Pepperdine 81-70 on Thursday night. Burrell hit 8 of 8 free throws in the final 1:35 to hold off the Waves as Seattle (9-14) won its third consecutive game and sixth of its last eight. Corbin Moore scored a career-high 20 points and Taylor Darby also scored 20 to lead Pepperdine (8-18), which has lost five straight and 13 of 14. Jordan Baker added 11 points — nine in the first half. Seattle took control of the game midway through the second half when the Waves went scoreless for nearly 10 minutes. Broussard hit a 3-pointer and scored on a three-point play to lead a 14-0 run for the Redhawks as Pepperdine went scoreless from 13:04 to 3:22. Moore made a 3 to end the drought. The Waves reached as close as seven points, but Seattle went 12 of 12 from the free-throw line down the stretch. Moore scored seven points and Darby had six during a 13-0 run to give the Waves a 49-46 lead with 14:55 left, erasing a 10-point deficit. The 6-foot-10 Moore and 6-foot-8 Darby used their height advantage to dominate inside, although Moore also hit a 3. Carter scored 11, including three 3-pointers to help put Seattle up 43-35 at halftime. He finished with four 3-pointers. The Redhawks led by as many as 11 in the first half. Pepperdine shot 35 percent from the field in the first half and finished at 39 percent. Seattle shot 45 percent from the field. Eric Wallace added eight points, eight rebounds and five blocks for the Redhawks.
