COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — South Carolina receiver Bruce Ellington says new basketball coach Frank Martin supports his plan to play both sports again next season.

Ellington said Thursday that he talked to Martin about the issue this week. Martin was named South Carolina's coach on Tuesday a few hours before Ellington returned to football practice for the first time this spring.

Earlier this month, Ellington said he was giving up football to concentrate on basketball. He said he re-thought the decision after the firing of former basketball coach Darrin Horn.

Ellington says he had a good talk with Martin and was excited about what the coach can bring to the program.

Ellington accounted for 707 all-purpose yards last season for Steve Spurrier's football team. He was the basketball team's second-leading scorer this winter.
