MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (AP) — Veteran head coach Ron Everhart has been named assistant basketball coach at West Virginia University. Head coach Bob Huggins announced Everhart's hiring on Monday. He succeeds Jerrod Calhoun, who left in April to take the head coaching job at Fairmont State University. The 50-year-old Everhart is a Fairmont native who compiled a 273-261 record over 18 seasons as a head coach at Duquesne, Northeastern and McNeese State. Everhart was fired in March after six seasons and a 99-89 overall record at Duquesne, despite taking the embattled program to postseason play three times. Everhart said he's honored to work with Huggins, who he called "mentor and big brother."
