Cincinnati joined the growing list of teams trying to make a fashion statement in the NCAA tournament by adding neon colors to uniforms.

The Bearcats' donned light grey outfits trimmed with day-glo red, and the fashion police started its patrol as soon as they hit the floor for pregame warmups for their second-round meeting against Texas. Overheard on press row: "Friends don't let friends wear day-glo." And on Twitter: "Day-glo, because there's that much threat of being hit by a car indoors."

But perhaps the choice wasn't so much about fashion as it was about distracting the Longhorns.

Cincinnati had another explanation in its press release on the "limited edition" unis: "The amplified school colors pay homage to the high intensity of March Madness and the electrifying play during the NCAA tournament."
