CINCINNATI (AP) — Xavier's surge to the Atlantic 10 tournament title game helped secure a spot in the NCAA tournament for the seventh straight season.
The Musketeers (21-12) got an at-large bid on Sunday and will play Notre Dame on Friday in Greensboro, S.C.
It's an upbeat finish to a season of extremes for the Musketeers, who were ranked No. 8 in the country in December. A brawl against rival Cincinnati in the closing seconds of Xavier's 23-point win led to suspensions and knocked the Musketeers out of kilter.
They finished third in the regular season and needed some wins in the conference tournament to secure an NCAA berth. They knocked off Dayton and Saint Louis to reach the A-10 title game, where they lost to St. Bonaventure on Sunday.
