LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — Junior-college All-American and Nebraska native Deverell Biggs has signed a letter of intent to play basketball for the Cornhuskers. Biggs is an Omaha Central graduate and the first in-state player to sign with the Huskers since 2001. New coach Tim Miles called Thursday an "exciting day" for the program and said he hopes Biggs is the first of many homegrown players to wear the scarlet and cream. Biggs led Seward County Community College in Kansas to a 31-7 record and a third-place finish in the national junior-college tournament. He averaged 14.6 points, 3.1 assists, 3.3 steals and 3.7 rebounds. He had eight games with at least 20 points. He began his career at West Texas College in 2010-11 after being named the high school player of the year in 2010.
