LARAMIE, Wyo. (AP) — Eighteen assists and just one turnover, along with a powerful inside game, added up to the 20th victory of the season for Wyoming - the most in nine years for the Cowboys, who led nearly the entire way in a 71-59 victory over TCU on Tuesday night. "We were just executing on offense," said Leonard Washington, who scored 23 points and grabbed 12 rebounds for his second straight double-double. "Guys were clicking on every cylinder. Eighteen assists and one turnover - that's really good. To be honest, I've never seen it in my basketball days." Wyoming (20-9, 6-7 Mountain West) also got 19 points from Francisco Cruz and 14 from Adam Waddell. J.R. Cadot scored 11 while Hank Thorns and Kyan Anderson added 10 apiece for the Horned Frogs (17-12, 7-6). Wyoming made 13 of its first 17 shots to go up 29-15. During that stretch, Cruz was 4 of 5, including three layups and a 3-pointer, plus three assists. TCU hung tough, drawing within 47-42 on a 3-pointer by Thorns with 15:51 remaining. But the Cowboys then scored six straight, including dunks by Waddell and Washington, to build the margin back to 11. After Cruz hit a 6-footer to make it 60-46 with 8:30 remaining, the Horned Frogs could get no closer than 10 the rest of the way. Wyoming finished with eight dunks, including five by Washington. The Cowboys honored their six seniors before the game, and coach Larry Shyatt said he was proud of how his team stayed focused after the ceremony. "I don't know if I've ever seen a better performance on a night that could have been emotional, and these guys refused to be emotional," he said. Shyatt, in his first year the second time around with the school, choked up when talking of his seniors. "These guys put us ." he said, then waited through a long pause to compose himself before finishing his thought. "They put us on their shoulders this year, and they let us coach them, and it doesn't happen very often." For TCU coach Jim Christian, the loss was a big disappointment. His team was coming off a huge win over New Mexico that left the Frogs one game off the pace entering the final week of the conference campaign. "You play defense with no effort, you're going to play offense with no effort, and we were awful the first 5 minutes of the game defensively, and we were awful the rest of the game too," he said. "If we want to be a good basketball team, you can't go do that. "We played with no emotion, no passion. They outhustled us the whole night, and that's what happens - you get your butt kicked. . If you think you deserve it, then you've got to fight for it. We didn't do that." Wyoming point guard JayDee Luster, who finished with eight assists, three rebounds, two steals and two points, said it was a satisfying ending on his home court of the last three seasons. "We all talked before the game about how much we put into this over the years and all the 7 a.m. workouts and open gyms and everything that we've done, and we just didn't want to leave here with a bad memory," he said. "We've had enough of those over the past years." Shyatt said it was great to pick up the 20th win, but the focus instantly turns to the regular-season finale at UNLV. "Tonight was a masterpiece in itself," he said, "but there's a lot of ball (left) and a lot more chapters."
