TULSA, Okla. (AP) — Officials say a Tulsa forward will not return to the team because of health problems.

Tulsa officials announced Thursday that doctors had discussed Kodi Maduka's condition with his family and the decision was made that his playing career with the Golden Hurricane wouldn't continue.

Tulsa head coach Danny Manning says Maduka will remain on scholarship at the school and will still be involved with the team.

Maduka collapsed April 4 during a pick-up basketball game on campus. He was transported to St. Francis Hospital and remained there for observation and tests for six days.

Maduka said he was doing fine and looked forward to pursuing an engineering degree. He didn't specify why he collapsed.

In 2011-12, Maduka averaged 8.1 points and a team-leading 6.3 rebounds and 1.8 blocked shots.
