No state’s had a better NCAA tournament so far than Ohio.
The tournament started in Dayton on Tuesday with President Barack Obama and British Prime Minister David Cameron watching an historic comeback _ Western Kentucky overcoming a 16-point deficit in the final 5 minutes to beat Mississippi Valley State. That was followed by Brigham Young’s unprecedented comeback from a 25-point deficit.
Ohio got the whole thing started with a flair.
Then, the state’s four teams all won their first games.
Ohio State beat Loyola of Maryland on Thursday, a predictable outcome. Cincinnati won its opener against Texas on Friday, and Ohio University pulled off a notable upset, beating Michigan. That was a satisfying outcome on High Street in Columbus _ an Ohio team beating one from Michigan _ and on Court Street in Athens as well, where the students got a chance to use a favorite cheer: OU? Oh Yeah!
Finally, Xavier knocked off Notre Dame after midnight, leaving Ohio’s teams 4-0 in the tournament.
