Steven Wine has worked for The Associated Press since 1984. He was news editor in Omaha before transferring to Miami, where he has been a sports writer since 1987. Wine covered tennis at the Summer Olympics in 1992, 1996, 2000 and 2008. He has covered Wimbledon 15 times and the French Open 10 times. He has also covered the U.S. Open and the Australian Open, as well as the World Series, Super Bowl, Daytona 500 and Masters. He covered the first games played by the Florida Marlins, Miami Heat and Florida Panthers. He covered the Miami Hurricanes in football for seven years before he saw them lose a game, reporting on their championship seasons of 1987, 1989 and 1991, and has covered Hurricanes basketball for 25 seasons.
