WAUKEGAN, Ill. (AP) — Former University of Illinois basketball player Jereme Richmond has been sentenced to eight days in jail for violating his probation, but he will be allowed to join an Illinois semi-pro basketball team. Richmond's attorney is Lawrence Wade. He said Lake County Judge John Phillips on Friday decided to allow the 20-year-old Richmond to serve his sentence on weekends. Richmond missed substance- and domestic-abuse classes that are required by his probation. The Waukegan native pleaded guilty to unlawful use of a weapon and was sentenced in January 2012 to 18 months of probation. Wade said Richmond is allowed to join the Sauk Valley Predators in Sterling, and travel with the team. Richmond, a top recruit out of high school, left Illinois for the NBA draft after one season but wasn't drafted.
