SAVANNAH, Ga. (AP) — Deven Williams came off the bench and scored a team-high 12 points to lift Savannah State past North Carolina Central 44-36 in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference game Saturday. Rashad Hassan added nine points and a game-high 11 boards to help Savannah State (15-10, 9-2) win its third game in a row. Down 35-20 with 14:04 remaining, North Carolina Central (17-8, 10-1) went on a 14-3 run, cutting its deficit to 38-34 behind Jeremy Ingram's layup with 4:15 left to play. The Eagles did not make a field goal the rest of the way, and Williams' 3-pointer with 1:30 to go sealed the game. Savannah State led 29-2 in bench points and outrebounded North Carolina Central 31-26. North Carolina Central shot just 28 percent (7 of 25) in the first half and trailed at halftime 24-16. Ingram scored 15 points, but was the only Eagle in double figures.
