CHARLESTON, Ill. (AP) — Eastern Illinois University will retire former basketball player Henry Domercant's No. 44 next month.

The university said Thursday that Domercant's number will be retired Feb. 16 at halftime of the game against Murray State.

Domercant played for the Panthers from 2000 to 2003. He ranked in the top five nationally in scoring in the last three of those seasons and holds 15 EIU single-season and career scoring records.

Domercant was part of the 2001 team that was the last Panther team to make the NCAA Tournament. The only other EIU tournament team was in 1992.

Domercant played professionally in several European countries.

Former coach Rick Samuels will also be recognized at the Murray State game. He led the Panthers to both of their tournament appearances.
