MISSOULA, Mont. (AP) — Montana forward Mathias Ward has been named to the Academic All-America men's basketball team, as chosen by the College Sports Information Directors of America.

The 6-foot-7 senior forward from Gig Harbor, Wash., received third-team honors.

Ward maintains a 3.69 GPA as he pursues a master's degree in accounting. He already has a master's degree in business administration and had a 3.84 GPA as an undergraduate.

Ward leads Montana with 14.8 points per game and has twice been named the Big Sky Conference men's basketball player of the week.

Ward is the first UM men's basketball player in 13 years to earn Academic All-America honors.
