LARAMIE, Wyo. (AP) — Wyoming opens the new year with an undefeated record but without its starting shooting guard. The Cowboys play at SMU on Wednesday night at 6 p.m. Earlier this week, coach Larry Shyatt announced that senior guard Luke Martinez is sidelined indefinitely after fracturing a bone in his right hand. Shyatt says the injured occurred in an off-campus incident. He declined to provide further details. Martinez is second on the team in scoring at 14.5 points a game. He is the Cowboys' main 3-point threat, hitting nearly three a game and 42 percent. The Pokes have tied the best start in program history with a 12-0 record this season. SMU is 10-4 on the season and coached by the renowned Larry Brown.
