North Carolina now on clock to respond in NCAA academic case

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (AP) — North Carolina is preparing for the next step toward a long-awaited resolution in the multi-year case centered around its academic fraud scandal.

The school and individuals named for violations have 90 days to respond now that they finally know what NCAA charges they face. It's the next procedural deadline, though not one set in stone.

NCAA board OKs anti-discrimination measure for event bidding

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — The NCAA Board of Governors adopted an anti-discrimination measure Wednesday that would affect the way the governing body evaluates bids to host sporting events.

The NCAA said the decision came during the board's quarterly meeting in Indianapolis. In a news release, the NCAA said it requires sites that are hosting events or bidding on them "to demonstrate how they will provide an environment that is safe, healthy and free of discrimination."

Huskers' Andrew White declaring for draft but could return

LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — Nebraska guard Andrew White is declaring for the NBA draft, but he's not hiring an agent so he can maintain his eligibility.

White, who made the announcement Thursday, can attend workouts scheduled by NBA teams next week and compete in the draft combine in May. He'll have until May 25 to decide whether to stay in the draft pool.

White transferred from Kansas two years ago and averaged 16.6 points and 5.9 rebounds for Nebraska last season.
