BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — Big scoring efforts in key conference games helped Fred Hunter of Nicholls State and Theresa Plaisance of LSU earn Louisiana Sports Writers Association Player of the Week Honors.

Nicholls and LSU both split games during the week, but both players averaged over 20 points and 7-plus rebounds in their respective contests.

Hunter was the Colonels leading scorer during the weekend as the team split the final two games of a four-game Southland Conference road trip averaging 24.5 points and 7.5 rebounds per game.

Plaisance averaged 22.0 points and 8.0 rebounds as LSU nearly upset No. 18 South Carolina, but rallied from 10 down to beat Vanderbilt on Sunday.
