Emmitt Holt added 16 points for the Friars, while A.J. Reeves chipped in 15. Luwane Pipkins had 13 points, seven assists and three steals as all five starters finished in double figures.
Providence has won 17 of the last 18 openers, with the lone defeat coming in the 2008-09 season against Northeastern.
