HOUSTON (AP) — Zavier Sanders scored 14 points to lead five Eastern Illinois players in double figures in a 74-62 victory over Houston Baptist on Saturday night.
Joey Miller and Jeremy Granger contributed 12 points apiece for the Panthers (8-6), who won their second in a row. L.C. Doss had 11 and Josh Piper 10.
Joe Latas scored 13 points to pace the Huskies (5-10), who dropped their second straight. Marcus Davis added 12 and Anthony Hill 10.
Down 20-17 with 6:34 left in the first half, Houston Baptist got consecutive baskets from Latas, Marcel Smith and Art Bernardi for a 23-20 lead. The Huskies led 30-26 at intermission.
But Eastern Illinois took the lead for good with a 13-3 run that started with a 51-49 deficit and ended on two free throws by Miller for a 62-54 edge with 4:15 left.
Sanders had nine rebounds as the Panthers outrebounded Houston Baptist 40-30.
